Eva has always loved drinking Chai latte, and as a vegan she always ordered them with plant-based milk alternatives. Once looking closely at the ingredient lists of Instant Chai drinks, however, she realized that most of them contained Casein, flavor additives, etc. Thus, the passionate baristas Kai & Eva decided to produce a Chai to meet their demands: it should be vegan, organic, ayurvedic and handmade. After months of experimenting with spices, Eva finally decided to invite her friends as to try her creation: without an exception, they were all thrilled.

In early 2015 Eva & Kai finally pitched their business idea to Eva’s family. Their Chai sirup was to grow from self indulgence to a marketable product. As all necessary skills were to be found within the family, they immediately started to work on their business.

What followed was elaborate research, product design and the equipping for the production. In August 2016, they proud- and happily supplied their fist costumer with their Chai sirup: Heimisch Café in Cologne. To this day, Eva, Kai, Margit and Michael run the »Black Sense Manufaktur« as a family business. They are happy and encouraged because of the growing popularity of their Chai sirup, as well as by the increasing number of costumers from both, the restaurant business and commerce.
